Geai vert - Green Jay

Geai vert – Green Jay

I arrived late Wednesday afternoon in Mission, an area called South Rio Grande Valley. The campground is 4 km from the World Birding Center at Bentsen State Park. This center has actually 9 sites distributed along the Rio Grande to preserve or restore bird habitat. Intensive development during certain periods of the 20th century was particularly destructive for marshes and forests. Now they are trying to repair the damage; quite successfully should I say. Here is an overview of wildlife I met during the last two days at Bentsen State Park and Estrello Llano Grande State Park. Among the species found: Green Jay  (a lifer for me), the Plain Chachalaca, the Great Kiskadee, the Least Grebe, the Altamira Oriole , the Golden-fronted Woodpecker, the Black Phoebe, the Black-necked Stilt and the Greater Roadrunner .
